Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy is built on the principle that data security is a non-negotiable human right.

• Certified Data Sanitization: We adhere to the NIST 800-88 and DoD 5220.22-M ECE standards for all data-bearing devices. If a storage device cannot be 100% wiped, it is physically shredded in a high-security, limited-access room.

• Asset Traceability & Reporting: Every donated device is scanned into an itemized inventory, recording the make, model, and serial number. Upon completion, we provide a Certificate of Data Sanitization or Destruction, closing the loop on your data responsibility.

• Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure: We maintain absolute confidentiality regarding donor files and internal records. We will not release any information regarding our partnerships to public media without prior written approval from all involved parties.

• Personal Data Collection: We collect minimal data for sponsorship tracking. Information provided for our Sponsor a Student or Village programs is used solely to provide verifiable social impact reports and is never sold to third parties

Terms of Use Policy

These terms establish a framework for Responsible Asset Disposition (ITAD) and a circular economy that prioritizes reuse over disposal

Release of Liability: Once electronics are collected by our team, SmartCycle IT assumes full rights and ownership of the equipment. We provide a formal Release of Liability, relieving your organization of future risks associated with the hardware.

• Zero-Landfill & Environmental Policy: We operate under a strict Zero-Landfill policy. Devices that cannot be refurbished for our African digital equity programs are dismantled into raw components and recycled through Basel Convention compliant channels.

• Ethical Downstream Management: As an R2v3-certified organization, we vet all downstream partners to ensure no hazardous materials are exported to developing countries for uncontrolled processing.

• Sustainability KPIs: We provide measurable data for your ESG and Net Zero reporting, including calculated Scope 3 carbon footprint reductions (e.g., 89 kg of CO2e avoided per computer) and local job creation metrics.

• Force Majeure: Neither party shall be liable for failure to perform due to reasons beyond their control, including epidemics, acts of God, or unusually severe weather.

• Dispute Resolution: Any conflicts will first be attempted to be settled amicably. If unresolved, they will be finally settled through binding arbitration in accordance with the laws of the operating jurisdiction

Ethical Alignment

By agreeing to these terms, partners and sponsors support the following Responsible Practices:

• High-Growth Job Creation: Computer reuse creates 296 more jobs for every 10,000 tons of material compared to simple disposal.

• Digital Empowerment: Refurbished tech is distributed to those at the bottom of the economic pyramid at roughly one-third the cost of new hardware.

• Community Safety: Professional dismantling prevents hazardous substances from leaching into groundwater or polluting the air through informal incineration.
